On June 12th, Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) will be facing World Boxing Association light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) in a fight that pits the well known Cotto against Foreman, a fighter that few people aside from hardcore boxing fans have ever heard of. Both Cotto and Foreman fight for Top Rank promotions. Cotto, 29, seems to be on the way down on his career after losing to Antonio Margarito and recently to Manny Pacquiao in knockout losses. Cotto also took a lot of punishment in a 12 round split decision win over Joshua Clottey in 2009.

Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment launched today their plans for 2010 that include 10 boxing shows in Puerto Rico and the first show of his promotional company in NY which will take place in the summer of 2010. The first show of his series “Boxeo Boricua” will be on Saturday, February 27 at the Roger Mendoza Coliseum. Hot prospect and USNBC featherweight champion Luis “El Artesano” Cruz (12-0, 9 KOs) will face Leon Bobo (18-4-1, 2 KOs) in the main event. Also on the card will be “The KO Artist” Juan “El Puma” González (6-0, 6 KOs), Juan “El Cowi” Herrera and Antonio Salgado.

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum plans to speak with Miguel Cotto this week to possibly finalize a fight with unbeaten WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman for June 12 in Madison Square Garden in New York. Arum plans to resume the negotiations once he returns from Mexico, where he plans to continue promoting the March 13 Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey pay-per-view.
Manny Pacquiao is now in the company of the all-time greats.

Former WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) is making a huge mistake in moving up in weight to take on World Boxing Association junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) in June. Foreman, 29, has a style of fighting that is all wrong for Cotto. Not only will Foreman have the four inch height advantage, but he also will have a five inch reach advantage as well for a fight against the 5’7” Cotto.

Former undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah thinks Manny Pacquiao will beat Joshua Clottey, while former titlist Miguel Cotto rates Pacquiao-Clottey as an even-money match-up that could go either way. “Pacquao should get him,” said Judah, who lost to Clottey by unanimous decision on August 8, 2008 for the vacant International Boxing Federation welterweight. The fight was stopped by the referee because of Judah’s cut caused by an accidental head butt.
